Job Summary

CJ Equipment Sales & Service is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious Yard Technician to join our team in Timmins, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the equipment yard, moving and positioning machinery, preparing equipment for customers, and assisting the service department with daily operations.

Previous experience operating machinery is considered a strong asset. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and can work independently as well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and move heavy equipment and machinery around the yard safely.
• Receive, inspect, organize, and park incoming and outgoing equipment.
• Wash, clean, and prepare machinery for customer delivery, rental, or sale.
• Perform basic equipment inspections and identify visible damage, leaks, or maintenance concerns.
• Assist with loading and unloading equipment and coordinating equipment movements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard and work area.
• Assist technicians and service staff with daily shop and yard duties.
• Check equipment for cleanliness, condition, and readiness before customer pickup.
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
• Report equipment issues, hazards, and maintenance requirements to management.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Manage Uhaul operations

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment or machinery.
• Experience working around construction, industrial, mining, or agricultural equipment is an asset.
• Knowledge of safe equipment handling and yard procedures.
• Valid driver's licence is preferred.
• Ability to perform physical work, including standing, walking, lifting, and working outdoors in different weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Good communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic equipment inspections are considered an asset.
• Willingness to learn about different types of machinery and equipment.

Equipment Operating Experience

Experience operating equipment such as skid steers, forklifts, wheel loaders, excavators, telehandlers, or other heavy machinery is an asset. Candidates must be trained, competent, and authorized to operate the applicable equipment and hold any required licences or certifications.
