Workforce Experiential Learning Coordinator
Full-Time, Contract (2 Years)

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Workforce Experiential Learning Coordinator to lead a two-year initiative aimed at promoting equitable access to student learning placements, streamlining employer access to workforce development programs, and fostering modern, productive workplace practices to support long-term workforce retention and productivity in Timmins.
Key Responsibilities
School Programs Support:
- Experiential learning placement coordination (equity-focused):
- Develop and support equitable access strategies for student experiential learning placements across diverse business sectors;
- Partner with educational institutions, both high school and post-secondary in Northern Ontario and Timmins based employers to ensure transparent, fair placement opportunities;
- Track placement metrics and assess outcomes for continuous improvement.
- Liaison to schools for the development and programming promotion
- Promote workplace activities for students and the opportunities for business to engage (career coaching, etc.)
- Identify opportunities for employer-student engagement throughout the academic year.
Employer Engagement and Support:
- Build and maintain relationships with a wide range of employers;
- Create and maintain a comprehensive database of relevant workforce development programs, services, and funding opportunities for businesses;
- Serve as a knowledge broker to guide employers through navigating workforce development resources, incentives, and talent development tools.
Education and Training Initiatives:
- Coordinate educational sessions on contemporary workplace practices (e.g., inclusive hiring, hybrid work strategies, employee well-being);
- Source expert facilitators and/or collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure quality delivery;
- Collect feedback and continuously refine learning offerings based on employer needs and sector trends.
Playbook Development:
- Lead the design and creation of a Chamber-branded practical employer-facing Workforce Playbook to support best practices in hiring, onboarding, and retention;
- Integrate continuous feedback from employer partners, students, and other stakeholders to ensure relevance and usability.
- Collaborate with staff, internal and external stakeholders, to develop marketing and communications plan to effectively promote playbook.
Research and Advocacy Development
- Support Labour Market Intelligence research by gathering feedback from employers (via surveys, interviews, roundtables) to identify barriers, talent shortages, and emerging workforce challenges.
- Coordinate and support the Chamber’s Workforce Task Force committee activities, including meeting agendas, action items, and projects, while tracking progress on workplan objectives and ensuring alignment with Chamber strategic goals.
- Track provincial and federal workforce legislation that impact employers.
- Collaborate with local and regional community partners to align efforts on issue identification, response strategies, and to address emerging needs.
- Contribute to Chamber policy briefs and advocacy submissions related to workforce policy development.
Reporting and Administration
- Monitor progress against project milestones and KPIs;
- Prepare regular reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders;
- Maintain accurate records of placements, employer engagement activities, and training sessions.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in workforce development, talent coordination, co-op/internship program management, or employer relations.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
- Bilingual (French and English)
Preferred
- Familiarity with experiential learning program structures and/or post-secondary education environments.
- Experience working with SMEs and non-profits.
- Knowledge of workforce funding programs and employment services.
Contract Details
- Duration: 2 years (with potential for extension based on funding and performance)
- Start Date: September 2, 2025
- Compensation: Annual salary to begin at $60,000. (35 hours per week)
