This position will provide assistance to the program staff to support the office and day program
Qualifications:
* Be flexible and willing to work between the hours of 9 and 4 however there may be the occasional weekend event for our Walk for Alzheimer's
* This position will begin as soon as possible and run for 16 weeks with 25-30 hours per week.
Job Requirements:
- Planning to be or is currently registered in a post-secondary program that provides education/experience in the following fields: personal support worker, social work, recreation therapy. Students registered in other programs who demonstrate the appropriate combination of ability and experience in these areas may also be considered.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Publisher, as well as other applications (email, internet).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and to organize multiple tasks effectively.
The Day Program Support Worker will provide high-quality care and support to participants attending the Adult Day Program. This role includes assisting with meal preparation, and planned activities, as well as maintaining a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment for clients living with dementia.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with arrival and departure routines, ensuring safe storage of personal items and medications
Help implement daily activity programs that encourage participation and engagement
Observe, record, and report participant behaviors, progress, and concerns
Work collaboratively within an inter-professional caregiving team
Maintain a clean and organized environment
Calmly and professionally respond to crisis situations
Support participants during meals and activities
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bilingual (English/French) strongly preferred
Own Transportation to work each day
Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
