Misiway Milopemahtesewin Community Health Centre, located in Timmins ON is established to provide quality programs and services that honour, respect and support Indigenous culture, values and healing practices, complemented by western approaches to primary health care.
We are searching for an experienced Child and Youth Worker who will offer mental health and addictions counselling and case management services to children and youth within the Misiway catchment area using a traditional approach to care delivery.
The Opportunity:
Job Title: Child and Youth Worker Salary Range: $48,000 - $63,800
Bring your proven Child and Youth Worker experience to a challenging and rewarding role in our Community Health Centre. As our Child and Youth Worker you will provide mental health and addictions counselling as well as case management services using a traditional Indigenous approach. The Medicine Wheel and Seven Grandfather teachings will guide the direction of service and the tools used to provide care. Care will be delivered using a variety of options such as one-on-one and group sessions, land-based activities and traditional ceremonies relevant to children and youth according to client need and preference.
As a successful candidate your qualifications will include:
- Bachelor of Social Work or Social Services Work preferred. Diploma in social services field along with relevant work experience will be considered.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in social services field working with Indigenous children and youth
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Sensitivity to the needs of a multicultural community including Indigenous youth and children
- Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications
- Ability to organize time, set priorities and multi-task in order to meet various timelines
- Ability to work flexible work hours to meet client needs
- Class G driver’s license and use of a vehicle are required
- Ability to speak Cree or Ojibway is considered an asset
