POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Indigenous Urban Youth Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering culturally grounded programs while also strengthening youth voice, leadership, and participation in community initiatives. This role supports Indigenous youth living in urban settings by creating safe, inclusive spaces, building meaningful relationships, and ensuring youth perspectives guide program development and community decision‑making. The coordinator works closely with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, youth, families, and community partners to promote cultural identity, wellness, and empowerment.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education in social work, child and youth, indigenous studies, community development, or a related field
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with Indigenous youth in community, educational, or social service settings.
- Knowledge of Mushkegowuk cultures, traditions, and the impacts of colonization on youth and families.
- Strong relationship‑building and communication skills.
- Ability to create culturally safe, youth‑centered environments.
- Program planning, facilitation, and event coordination skills.
- Experience with youth engagement, outreach, and leadership development.
- Understanding of issues affecting Indigenous youth in urban contexts.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for youth programming.
- Valid G or G2 driver’s license is an asset
- Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record Check
