POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the maternal child program Manager, this individual will support the Medical Administrative Duties of the Obstetrical Department, as part of an innovative service delivery model with Cochrane Temiskaming Children’s Treatment Centre (CTCTC).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the Manager and Medical Chief of Obstetrics and a team of family physicians.
- Responsible for scheduling appointments for various obstetrical clinics.
- Collaborate closely with obstetricians, family physicians and Maternal Child Unit.
- Privy to the confidential work of both the Manager and Medical Chief, as such, must maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.
- In collaboration with the manager, Medical Chief, and team of physicians, will prepare schedules,
- As a Meditech Provider Dictionary super user, and adhering to Meditech Standards, enter new providers into the dictionary as requested. To include changes to existing entries as per Meditech guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members and with IS/IT to set up Meditech pneumonics for various clinics.
- Collaborate with team members to set up an out-patient clinic charting system for Meditech Expanse
- Collect, document, control weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly statistics, produce reports.
- Comply with established hospital policies, practices and standards regarding patient safety and Occupational Health & Safety.
- Coordinate referrals/communication and required follow up with families, community agencies and specialists as required.
- Work closely with academic medical programs to schedule and facilitate medical learner and medical resident placements.
- Perform other duties as assigned, from time to time to meet organizational goals and objectives.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a Medical Administrative and/or Business Diploma, or equivalent in specialized obstetrical clerical leadership and support experience, and willing to complete an administrative course.
- Must have working knowledge and a background in obstetrics.
- Must have recent work experience in supporting obstetrics medical administration.
- Scheduling experience would be considered an asset.
- Recent experience in obstetrics-flow, bookings would be considered an asset.
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge in all Microsoft Office Programs especially Outlook, Word, Access, Publisher, and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Advanced organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
- Ability to work in a busy environment with concurrent demands, interruptions, and tight deadlines.
- Must maintain regular attendance at work.
- Must have the ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
- The ability to work while sitting most of the day.
- Must possess the ability to provide effective services to clients/patients in both English and French. Individuals who do not meet the language requirements of this posting are invited to submit their resumé for future consideration.

Compensation and Benefits
· Rate of Pay: To be determined, based on experience and certification
· Option to enroll in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
