Elementary Head Custodian                                       

Location:   R Ross Beattie Senior Public School            

Start date:     As soon as possible        

Vacancy Details:    1.0  (Permanent/full-time, 40 hours/week - 7:00am to 3:00pm)

Position Summary:

Organize and supervise custodial staff cleaning areas, perform routine cleaning and other related tasks in order to maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment for students, staff and visitors.

Requirements:                                                                                                                                                                  - High School diploma or equivalent                                                                                                                            - Computer skills (e-mail, data entry, online work orders)                                                     -                                  - Must have current, Board approved, MHMIS certificate                                                                                         - Experience in custodial work is preferred                                                                                                                                   - Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, product directions and mixing ratios                                                                                                           - Work cooperatively and effectively with other staff and supervisors.                                                                 - Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.                                                                                         - Use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency                                                                           - Perform medium to heavy physical labor                                                                                                                 - Meet deadlines with time constraints                                                                                                                       - Supervisory duties such as:

-         direct and supervise custodial staff to maintain a high level of cleanliness in the facility

-         organize and implement work schedules

-         set priorities and re-arrange staff schedules to accommodate emergencies

-         report writing and planning project work

-         training custodial staff to ensure understanding of WHMIS requirements and necessity of work safety

-         inputting staff absences and replacement employees using the Smartfind absence system

-         performing inspections and maintaining digital logs

-         requisitioning of materials, supplies, and equipment

 

Salary as per the current CUPE collective agreement Collective Agreements (dsb1.ca)
